From cheeks that blush, just a pinch, to soft rosebud shades and refreshingly fragrant fixes, it's a summer rose romance. Rosy pinks, faithful fuchsias and forget-me-not blues...a limited-edition collection of colours, to pick, peruse and ponder.
Summer simplified to the two major L's...Lips and Lashes! Lips take the lead with Dazzleglass: glittering, shimmering, comfortably creamy. Lashes rise to the occasion with glamorous Dazzle Lash. Double your dazzle, you'll outshine everyone!
For those of you unfamiliar to "BB Creams", it's also known as "Blemish Balm" and "Beblesh Balm". It sort of a super cream that serves the following purposes in an all-in-one deal:
1. Foundation/Tinted Moisturizer 2. Concealer 3. Moisturizer 4. Base 5. Sunscreen (some, not all) 6. Anti-aging (some, not all) 7. Whitening (some, not all)
So, with many brands and many different types (with little color options), which one to choose...??
Well, first of all, BB Creams generally come in one or two shades (Fair or Light). Those of you with medium to dark skin tones, I'm sorry but these probably won't work for you.
Within the last several months, I've built up a small collection of BB Creams and I have decided to do a review on some of these products to hopefully give you a better idea of color, texture, oiliness, etc.
The BB Creams I will be reviewing are as follows: 1. SKIN79 SUPER+ Beblesh Balm 2. Etude House Good-bye Trouble BB Magic Cream (for oily skin) 3. MISSHA M Perfect Cover BB Cream (No. 21) 4. SkinFood Aloe Sun BB Cream SPF 20PA+ (No. 1) 5. Lioele Beyond the Solution BB Cream 6. Dr. Jart Rejuvenating Blemish Base Silver Label 7. Etude House Speedy Total Base (No. 2)
1. SKIN79 SUPER+ Beblesh Balm
This one was one of the darkest BB Creams from my collection (which meant I couldn't even put it anywhere near my very fair skin tone).
From applying on my arm, I could tell there was a greyish tint to the color (not the most flattering or natural tone in my opinion)
Among the BB Creams that I own, this one had the prettiest packaging, although not the most efficient when trying to guess when your repurchase should be
This one was also too dark for my skin tone, but it's definitely a better tone than the SKIN79 Super+ Beblesh Balm (the color seemed more natural)
It comes with a little pump at the end of the tube, which I found to be a little inconvenient (I could not control the amount of product the pump dispenses)
SPF 30 PA++
3. MISSHA M Perfect Cover BB Cream (No. 21)
This one was the easiest to blend
Yellow-toned (which I like, although it's still a tad bit too dark for me)
Coverage is pretty good, but you'll still need some concealer here and there, depending on the condition of your skin
Good oil control
Comes in two colors, this is the lighter one
SPF 42 PA++
4. SkinFood Aloe Sun BB Cream SPF 20PA+ (No. 1)
Color was pretty neutral for this one, but the coverage was more like a tinted moisturizer than a foundation.
Didn't last very long on my skin, it sort of "slid off" after a while
Made my skin dry and break out (strange combination)
Comes in two colors, this is the lighter one
SPF 20 PA++
5. Lioele Beyond the Solution BB Cream
Good coverage (the days my skin is feeling good, I can get away with this and nothing else - no moisturizer, no concealer, no foundation... but I do need some looser powder)
Lasts several hours before needing touch-up
Also comes in pump packaging, but easier to handle than the Etude House one
Good yellow-based, natural color
6. Dr. Jart Rejuvenating Blemish Base Silver Label
Best coverage among the BB Creams I own, covers blemishes and other imperfections as well as liquid foundation
Not the most natural color tone, it does have sort of a greyish cast once applied
Lasts a long time on the skin
Good oil control
SPF 25 PA++
7. Etude House Speedy Total Base (No. 2)
Comes in two colors, this is the lighter one (pink-er one from the swatch, but yellow in real life)
Very liquidy texture
I don't know if I just got a bad item, but the oil was separated from the product and I did not dare put this anywhere near my face.
Color is the lightest among the BB Creams I own
SPF 25 PA++
Here are the color swatches in order (from left to right): 1. SKIN79 SUPER+ Beblesh Balm 2. Etude House Good-bye Trouble BB Magic Cream (for oily skin) 3. MISSHA M Perfect Cover BB Cream (No. 21) 4. SkinFood Aloe Sun BB Cream SPF 20PA+ (No. 1) 5. Lioele Beyond the Solution BB Cream 6. Dr. Jart Rejuvenating Blemish Base Silver Label 7. Etude House Speedy Total Base (No. 2)
And the moment of truth... oiliness! I dabbed each of the BB Creams on oil blotting sheet and left it for 1 hour (from left to right top row, then left to right bottom row): 1. SKIN79 SUPER+ Beblesh Balm 2. Etude House Good-bye Trouble BB Magic Cream (for oily skin) 3. MISSHA M Perfect Cover BB Cream (No. 21) 4. SkinFood Aloe Sun BB Cream SPF 20PA+ (No. 1) 5. Lioele Beyond the Solution BB Cream 6. Dr. Jart Rejuvenating Blemish Base Silver Label 7. Etude House Speedy Total Base (No. 2)
#7 gave out the most amount of oil (this is a big no-no for my combination skin)
#3 and #6 had the least amount of oil released, and the rest were about the same
P.S. If you live in the U.S., these are available for purchase online only (unless you're lucky and you live near an Asian skincare store).
Much less glitter than other Mineralize Skinfinishes
Easy to apply
Pretty to look at
Gives face a very "finished" look
Cons:
Not a "necessary" makeup item
Expensive at $27 each
Conclusion: If you disliked the other Mineralized Skinfinishes from previous collections due to the fact that it's easy to look like a disco-ball, check this out! These are both very subtle and easy to work with. If you are a minimalist, and if you have many other pretty things to look at, you can pass.
